The HOPE Quilt

The HOPE Quilt is being created for the Adam J. Lewis Academy in Bridgeport, CT.  The quilt is designed by Lizzy Rockwell, who was inspired by the school's motto, Hope Rising. Lizzy designed the quilt to highlight hope-themed drawings on fabric which make up the geometric border. These drawings were created by children and staff at the Adam J. Lewis Academy, and members of Peace by Piece: The Norwalk Community Quilt Project. The central panel illustrating the word HOPE was created in appliqué. The background sky fabric was hand dyed by artist, Alana Klinka using ombre technique. Many people have contributed to the quilt as volunteers artisans and hand quilters at community quilting bees. The quilt will be unveiled at the school in November 2021. This project is funded by a grant from The Connecticut Office of the Arts and private donations.
